today marks 290 years we lost this wonderful man': Katherine Jenkins pays touching tribute to her father

Katherine Jenkins paid a touching tribute to her late father on Monday morning.
The talented singer posted a sweet throwback snaps of herself and her father Thomas John Selwyn Jenkins as they sat together on a boat during her early years.
A young Katherine could be seen sat behind her father and smiling at the camera while Selwyn could be seen looking down.

The Welsh star captioned the picture with the sad message: '20 years today we lost this wonderful Man.
She continued: 'Dad, it breaks my heart to think you've been gone more years than I knew you. Wish you were here. Miss you everyday. Love you always xxx'
Her father died of lung cancer at the age of 70, when Katherine was just 15 years old. She has since dedicated ever award to him

Fans were quick to console the Mezzo-soprano as one wrote: 'I wouldn't say lost @realkathjenkins as I'm sure he is with you and family all the time..big hugs xx'
Another wrote: 'Sorry to hear that. I'm sure he's watching over you. Very proud of all you've achieved too & thrilled with your little girl. Xxx'
The acclaimed songstress will be kicking off a series of live orchestra gigs next week, and has just released her 12th album - the first since becoming a mother - entitled Celebration.

The number 12 is an important number in Katherine's life, with the opera singer also notching up 12 number one hits in the classical charts in the last 12 years.
The star has had more UK classical number 1s than any artist in history.
Next month Katharine will be singing at the Queen's big birthday bash, held in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
She will no doubt be joined by her husband Andrew Levitas, whom she tied the knot with at Hampton Court Palace in September 2014 after a whirlwind seven-month romance.
